Design Spotlight: Garden Vegetables
Inspired by much of rural life, this collection began in my mother’s vegetable garden, where I spent many hours as a child fascinated by what she was growing - from potatoes and rhubarb to raspberries, radishes, salad, and more.
Created with countryside kitchens in mind, the aim of our Vegetable Garden print is to bring a touch of the garden into the home, capturing the charming nature of watching things grow.

Inspiration: My Mother's vegetable garden
The collection was born from memories of digging up vegetables - the excitement of counting the potatoes or beetroot we’d grown, each one perfectly imperfect and full of character, filling a trug before bringing them indoors to be eaten later.
The Design Process:
Illustrating Veggies
I began searching for photos of her veg garden, and bowls of her delicious produce, piecing together possible combinations, whether it was herbs, fruit, or finally root vegetables, before drawing each one by hand.
Root vegetables, to me, are the symbol of a vegetable garden, with their strong shapes and winding leaves, whether it's a carrot, beetroot or radish, each one is full of character. Their vibrant, earthy colours felt like the perfect choice for a countryside kitchen decor collection.
The aim was to capture their imperfection, reflecting the story of where they had come from through hand-drawn illustration.

Building the Pattern
After the drawings were scanned and refined in Photoshop, the colours were tweaked - muted oranges, deep purples, earthy browns and soft greens formed the vegetable print. The pattern began to take shape, with each uniquely formed vegetable arranged around each other, creating a composition that felt like everything I had once dug up and laid before me.
Fabric Sample & Photoshoot
Once complete, the vegetable print was sampled on cotton panama and cotton drill to see how it worked across different vegetable kitchenware. Composition, colour vibrancy, and scale were carefully checked before each piece was sampled and then photographed in the home to reflect how it fits into everyday life.

Bringing the Garden Indoors
The final collection was developed as a series of practical vegetable print homeware pieces designed to carry the feeling of the garden into everyday living indoors. Each printed double oven glove, tea towel and napkin is designed to feel useful, while also reflecting the quiet nature of seasonal growing and homegrown produce.

What makes this collection so special is how perfectly it lends itself to kitchen gifts for gardeners.
For every occasion, whether it’s a birthday, housewarming, or Christmas present, our Vegetable Garden collection is a great source of gardener gift ideas, designed for anyone who finds joy in their garden.
